In 2021, the PA Steelhead Association created a fishing survey to track the quality of our great local steelhead fishery.  Ari Capotis, a PSA member and local steelhead fishing guide, was the person behind the creation and development of this survey.  The PSA has continued to maintain this survey for several years with all the collected data freely shared with the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission.   This information is analyzed by their Lake Erie Research Unit with the goal of gathering information that will be used to improve and enhance the quality of our Pennsylvania steelhead fishery.  The survey also provides information about lake-run brown trout and salmon that are caught in Lake Erie and in its Pennsylvania tributary streams.

The survey is an on-line form that is easy to fill out and is available September 1st to the opening day of trout season in the spring.   We invite you to provide your input and candid feedback about your steelhead fishing experience in Erie and Crawford Counties. Please share information about your fishing outings including the days that you do NOT land a fish.  Please fill out a survey every time that you fish for steelhead!  Every survey submission is helpful. 

Angler identity and fishing location will be kept anonymous.
