Frank Scicchitano 2022
The highlight of the 2022 Fall Run Picnic were the award presentations to two ageless gentlemen. One of those men is the timeless Frank Scicchitano (PSA Angler Award).
Even at 90 years of age Frank doesn't seem to be slowing down much. It was noted that both men honored that night keep themselves moving, enjoy the outdoors, have a lot of friends, and pursue an activity that they are passionate about --- namely working to preserve our local Steelhead fishery. The secret to a long life?
Frank Scicchitano was recognized for his over 40 years of involvement and service in the PSA and 3 -C-U. Marty Grzasko told some stories about Frank and talked about his accomplishments for several minutes. One thing that Frank is well-known for is selling 3-C-U buttons at Trout Run and the “Wall” on Walnut Creek. He is known as the “Button Man” by many as he peddles 3-C-U buttons early in the morning at his favorite fishing spots. Frank’s son, Tony, then had some heart-felt comments about his dad. Frank was then presented with his plaque.
Frank was always the first to volunteer and if he could no longer do the physical labor, he supplied the food for those that did. Frank was tireless in his efforts to keep the Walnut Creek Access area clean as he regularly placed and emptied garbage bags in strategic locations.
Frank was also presented with a fishing cap that had his favorite saying embroidered on it: “It’s not the catch, it’s the Quest.” The PA Steelhead Association thanks Frank for a lifetime of dedication!
